The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Dr Fearne said, Malta’s situation allows to further ease some restrictions. From Next Monday, standing events, limited to 100 people in an area of 200 square meters, may now be held in the open. However, all those attending must wear a mask, he said.
From 13th September, if the situation shows no new developments, standing events can take place, inside as well. Sitting activities will allow a one-meter space for attendees up to 100 people relative to the space of the venue. However, Dr Fearne continued to say that initially there should be no mixed standing / sitting activities to take place at the same event. This is so that if there is a problem with a certain type of event, other events may be allowed to continue.
The Deputy Prime Minister also added that if by late September, if no problems arise, activities with fewer restrictions could be allowed for a larger pool of vaccinated people. This will allow the authorities to establish if viably safe activities can go forth for Christmas.
