Deputy Prime Minster – Some Relaxation On Events

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Chris Fearne

‎The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Dr Fearne said, Malta’s situation allows to further ease some restrictions.‎ From Next Monday, standing events, limited to 100 people in an area of 200 square meters, may now be held in the open. However, all those attending must wear a mask, he said.‎

From 13th September, if the situation shows no new developments, standing events can take place, inside as well. Sitting activities will allow a one-meter space for attendees up to 100 people relative to the space of the venue. However, ‎Dr Fearne continued to say that initially there should be no mixed standing / sitting activities to take place at the same event. This is so that if there is a problem with a certain type of event, other events may be allowed to continue.

‎The Deputy Prime Minister also added that if by late September, if no problems arise, activities with fewer restrictions could be allowed for a larger pool of vaccinated people. This will allow the authorities to establish if viably safe activities can go forth for Christmas.‎
